Max’d Out Donuts’ Knaus Berry Farm Collab Returns
Everyone loves a good doughnut, and Max Santiago makes some of Miami’s finest. But there’s always some way to improve on a good thing — and that’s to mash up a doughnut with Knaus Berry Farm’s cinnamon rolls. That’s exactly what Santiago does with his “Sticky Icky Bun” doughnut. Santiago wraps 24-hour raised brioche dough around a Knaus Berry Farm cinnamon roll, topped with roasted pecan-toffee syrup, and finished with local pickled strawberries. These delights are available every Saturday and Sunday until the Knaus Berry Farm season ends.
If you’re a cinnamon roll purist, starting next week you’ll be able to pick up Knaus Berry Farm cinnamon rolls at Max’d Out Donuts — this is great news for those of us living in north Miami-Dade and Broward. The cinnamon rolls will be sold in half-dozen bags from Wednesday to Sunday. A sweet deal!
Come get your sweet tooth satisfied at Max’d Out Donuts. 14871 Biscayne Blvd, North Miami Beach; 305-705-3425; maxdoutdonuts.com. The shop opens at 8:30 so get there early — because these babies will sell out!
Batch Gastropub Gets Lucky
Kevin Danilo loves his Brickell neighborhood. Not only is his flagship Batch Gastropub located in Brickell, but it’s also where he and his Husky, Ice, call home.
Danilo sent me a story from a local Brickell Living Facebook Page. A woman named Margaux has posted about her dog, Lucky. Lucky is a 15-and-a-half year-old that loved to take walks along the water with his mom. Lately, Lucky’s gotten slower and his health is starting to decline, so Margaux decided to take Lucky to enjoy the water in a giant doggie stroller. But, some random people decided to say nasty things to her on the walk, and Margaux posted a plea to just be kind and let her beloved fur kid enjoy his time in the fresh air. The good news is that plenty of people responded with good wishes for Lucky the Pup — including an offer for a photo shoot of the beloved doggo.
That’s where Kevin Danilo comes in. He invited Margaux and her husband, Thomas to bring Lucky to Batch Gastropub for trivia night. There, the humans had champagne waiting and Lucky received a meal of steak and chicken. There was also a shout-out to Lucky by the trivia host, along with plenty of love and attention by staff and guests alike. Dog lover/proprietor Danilo said that he was following the compelling story and loved that people rallied around Margaux and Lucky. “People offered the use of their pools so Lucky could swim, and Ethan, a photographer who just rescued a dog, himself, took pictures of Lucky. So we invited them over for dinner. I wish more people did little stuff like that.”
Danilo isn’t just kind to dogs.
Through Batch’s charity bottle program, Danilo partners with whiskey companies to purchase proprietary single-barrel bottles with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to a partner charity or organization. So far, Batch has sold bottles from 15 barrels, like the Buffalo Trace single-barrel bourbon that benefits the Gator Club. Feel the love!

New Fresh Dog Food Vending Machine in Coral Gables
Yum Pup, a South Florida-based fresh dog food company, recently launched an innovative new refrigerated vending machine at Shops at Merrick Park. The idea: Offer pet parents an easier way to find uber-fresh, high-quality, human-grade dog food portioned into single-serve meals. Conveniently dispensed from a machine designed with the modern pet parent in mind, the Yum Pup vending machine allows
people to grab a fresh cup of dog food while they shop or dine at Merrick Park. Each cup, made with human-grade ingredients, is free of fillers and preservatives, guaranteeing a nutritious and delicious meal for your pup while you're on the move. Each Yum Pup recipe — a choice of beef, turkey, chicken, or lamb — is made in a kettle and in small batches, and all ingredients are cooked separately according to
their respective cooking temperatures. Once cooked, the ingredients are mixed in together and packaged in sealed bags. Each bag is frozen immediately to preserve the quality and freshness of the food, and is free from both preservatives or fillers. The company, which offers subscription-free specialty dog food service with local delivery
options, plans to roll out additional vending machines at additional Miami locations in the coming months. Puptastic!
